Abstract EN
The present paper aims to determine the concentration of gaseous pollutants emitted from the exhaust of vehicles in Jordan.
In this study, one thousand forty four vehicles were tested.
The obtained data indicates that the average concentrations of exhaust emission from gasoline vehicles are : 4.35 % CO, 8.06 % C02, 628.86 ppm HC, 35.95 ppm NOx, and 5.17 % O2, while the average pollutants emitted from diesel vehicles are: 0.0086 % CO, 2.3 3% C02, 151.94 ppm HC, 79.82 ppm NOx ,16.66 % 02,and 7.50 ppm S02.
A high percentage of vehicles emit gases pollutants with concentrations above the allowable Jordanian limit.
The reasons for higher concentrations of emitted pollutants are investigated.
