Abstract EN
Back ground Circadian neuro-endocrine rhythms play a pivotal role in the development of seasonal changes in body fat stores and insulin" sensitivity.
Circadian dependent effect of prolactin acting centrally and peripherally increase fattening and lipolysis simultaneously which has dramatic consequence for the development of insulin resistance state.
Objective To study the effect of circadian prolactin level during day interval on obesity and the occurrence of insulin resistance.
Study Design The present study was conducted on 60 subjects aged 20-45 years, 30 males and 30 females.
Subjects were classified into 4 groups according to their body mass index.
Group 1 : 20 healthy obese females with body mass index (BMI) more than 30 Kg / m2.
Group 2 : 20 healthy obese males with body mass index (BMI) more than 30 Kg / m2.
Group 3 : 10 healthy non obese females with body mass index (BMI) less than 30 Kg / rrA Group 4 : 10 healthy non obese males with body mass index (BMI) less than 30 Kg / rrA For all subjects, anthropometric measurements including : body mass index (BMI), waist circumference, waist circumference hip ratio, laboratory investigations including : fasting Prolactin level at 8 a.
m., prolactin level at 8 p.
m.
oral glucose tolerance test and insulin sensitivity was estimated using Homeostatic Model Assessment (HOMA) for insulin resistance.
