Abstract EN

This paper investigates the effect of using web-based materials in teaching Accounting Principles (1).

The webbased material is offered by using the Blackboard system.

The purpose of this investigation is to evaluate the webbased course delivery in terms of its practical functionality, student acceptance and educational outcomes.

The study surveyed 70 students who were enrolled in an accounting web-based course offered by the Department of Accounting at the Hashemite University during the summer semester of 2003-2004.

A Likert-type instrument was designed to collect information about learners' perceptions toward the effectiveness of using web-based course. The result of this study reveals that the students' acceptance of the web-based instruction was high and the use of the web-based materials positively affects the learning skills of the students.

However, functional problems were found in terms of using the web-based materials.
