Abstract EN

This study aims to investigate the miraculous nature of the Holly Quran pertaining to the subject of ellipsis which has been dealt with in semantics by rhetoricians.

The study has gone into the reasons behind ellipsis because the tendency towards it stems from the need to use this method.

According to linguists, ellipsis is allowed when its context can be inferred.

Then the study has reviewed the types of ellipsis ranging from the letter, word and up to the sentence level.

The process of ellipsis may also take more than a sentence whenever necessary.

In this respect, the study has revealed the reasons for ellipsis in the Quranic verses, such as conciseness, caution, specialty and etc.The study has also highlighted the rhetorical nature of the Holy Quran not only in relation to its magnificent expressiveness but also to the ellipsis process which may benefit the listener and speaker to realize their goal of communication.

Thus, considering carefully the ellipsis process, the Quranic verses have achieved their ultimate goal, i-e calling people for reaching the higher self and then assisting them to be ready for the Day of Judgment.
