English Abstract

The construction industry has been one of the most important industries for the development of the Palestinian infrastructure and economy.

The construction industry faces many challenges that affect it especially during the design phase.

Many of these challenges arise from the changes in the economy and technology, user's unsatisfaction and occupation.

The design process is considered as the most important step in any project.

In the construction industry, usually the customer requirements are not treated systematically.

Fuzzy Quality Function Deployment (FQFD) has become a widely used tool in the development of products and services.

It helps design teams to gather needs of the customer and organize this data.

The main objective of this research is to design an appropriate vocational educational facility using FQFD.

The questionnaire is used as a tool to data collection.

This research determines a total of 11 customer requirements and 38 design requirements obtained from literature of vocational educational facilities design, FQFD method and professionals.

The data is analyzed using Microsoft Office Excel and SPSS.

This study presents the proposed layout for a proper vocational educational facility.

Pareto principle was used to find the critical design requirements of the educational carpentry workshop.

A model has been developed using LINDO software to identify the main design requirements of the educational carpentry workshop according to many conditions that achieve most customer requirements.

The research points out to the need for more standardization of users' needs.

More effort should be made to apply a proper vocational educational facilities design in the construction industry.
