English Abstract
Many of the genes on Y-chromosome are involved in male sexual determination and development.
Identifying genes on each chromosome is an active area of genetic research.
The Y-chromosome is a segment of the DNA ; these segments are known as markers, which contain short units of DNA (usually 3 to 7 bases long), that are repeated in a tandem several times.
They are called microsatellites or short tandem repeats (STRs).
The frequency of the alleles in the Arabian population in Africa ranged from (22 %) to (96 %) with mean value of (59 %).
The allele similarity to the model haplotype (as conducted by Y Search Database configuration) ranged from (17.6 %) to (82.3 %) with the mean value of (50 %).The highest similarity (82.3 %) was for (Ly7 and Mu2) and lowest similarity (17.6 %) was for (Ly3).
The minimal haplotype in Arabian population in Africa ranged from (4 alleles matches) to (15 alleles matches) for Somali and Sudan respectively In conclusion, Fifty-one samples of the Arabian populations in African males were analyzed for 17 Y-STR loci, Fifty-one different haplotypes were observed.
which were distributed as follows : 16 haplotypes among Libyan, 5 haplotypes among Egyptian, 4 haplotypes among Mauritanian, 4 haplotypes among Tunisian, 4 haplotypes among Algerian, 11 haplotypes among Morocco, 4 haplotypes among Sudani, 3 haplotypes among Somali.
The P–value at the level of P ≤ 0.05 was determined for comparison purpose between the mean values of each STRs of each country with other countries.
There were no significant differences at (P ≤ 0.05) level between the mean of each STR for each country with others.
This indicates that the mutation rate among the Arabian countries population are less frequent as it is clear from the narrow range of the SD value for each marke.
