English Abstract
The four NO-donors, Soudium nitroprusside, Spermidine, Nitrosovaline and Nitrosoarginine produced dose-dependent inhibition of polyphenol oxidase and catalase activites.
Although both enzymes carry different metals at their active sites and they catalyze different type of reactions.
The inhibition by the four oxidants was analogous.
The preincubation and dilution experiments proved that the inhibition of both enzymes by Sodium nitroprusside and Spermidine was reversible.
In contrast, the inhibition of these 2 enzymes by Nitrosovaline and Nitrosoarginine was irreversible.
Further treatment of these two enzymes with the antioxidants ascorbic acid, uric acid, vitamins A & E gave protection against Sodium nitroprusside and Spermidine inhibition but not against nitrosovaline and Nitro arginine inhibition.
