English Abstract
In this work eight imines of the type ArCH = NH and four of the type ArCH = N-Ar were prepared from substituted Benz aldehydes and ammonia and substituted Benz aldehyde and substituted aniline receptively.
These imines were used as substrates for the reaction with bromonitromethane in presence of tin (II) chloride.
It was found here that this type of addition reaction results in the formation of a C-C bond between CH2N02Br carbon and the C = N carbon.
Compounds of the type B-nitrosamines were produced with yields ranging between 76-92 %.
The B-nitrosamines synthesized were characterized by IR, NMR spectroscopy, and MS spectrometry.
The advantages of this method are : i) The yield of the product is relatively high.
ii) Ease of handling and purification of the products.
iii) shorter reaction time.
