English Abstract

-The purpose of this work is to analyze the sound signal and dynamic (vibration) signal in details by special computer software in order to optimize the most representative parameters (features) of the signal.

These parameters required to be used to distinguish between the signals emitted from different sources or from the same source but under different working conditions.

The computer software was validated on a well known signal which is the sine wave signal before applying it on random signals which are emitted from the sound and dynamic sources.

Analysis of the results for the signals showed that the optimum features of the signal in turn are signal energy, event count, rise time, duration and finally signal amplitude, depending on their sensitivity to any change on original signal.

These results of knowing the weight of each parameter in random sound signal reinforces the use of the most powerful non-destructive in field test method which is the Acoustic Emission testing method to be used for live monitoring the signals emitted from industrial products to inspect the inside defects.

This study recommended that use other known signals like ramp, rectangular, squire …etc, to reinforce the results verified in this thesis and applied this system on the real production line.
