English Abstract
This study aims at investigating the linguistic features of the proverbs that Tafila women use, reflecting their linguistic feminine identity.
A systematic questionnaire and informal interviews were used to elicit the data of the study.
The "Dominance" approach, the "Cultural Difference " approach, and the "Linguistic Identity" theory were also used to study the collected data.
The findings of this study indicate that Tafila women use certain proverbs in some situations of praise and dispraise and some occasions of happiness and sadness.
These proverbs are associated with linguistic features reflecting the linguistic feminine identity of Tafila women.
It was also found that the speech of young women differs linguistically from that of old women. This thesis consists of five chapters.
The first chapter provides an introduction.
The second chapter represents the theoretical framework and the literature review.
The methodology of the study is discussed in chapter three.
Findings and data analysis are discussed in chapter four.
Finally, chapter five includes summary, conclusion and recommendations.
