English Abstract
This study aimed at investigating the effect of using integrative learning skills on tenth graders' achievement.
It attempted to answer the following questions : 1- Is there a significant difference in the tenth grade students in the achievement in English due to the teaching method? 2-Is there a significant difference in the achievement of tenth grade students in the speaking skill due to the teaching method? 3- Is there a significant difference in the achievement of tenth grade students in the reading skill due to the teaching method? 4- Is there a significant difference in the achievement of tenth grade students in the writing skill due to the teaching method? The sample of the study consisted of 68 tenth grade males who were the cluster randomly selected and distributed into experimental and control groups.
The experimental group was taught by using the integrative learning skills, whereas the control group was taught by using the conventional method.
The study was conducted during the first semester of the academic year 2007 / 2008.Validity and reliability were insured.
Analysis of data showed significant differences between the experimental and control groups on the integrative learning skills (speaking, reading, and writing) with respect to achievement.
The result of the study revealed that : 1- The differences between the mean scores of the two groups on the test-retest were statistically significant in favor of the experimental group in the achievement of tenth grade students due to the teaching method at a = 0.05.
2- The differences between the mean scores of the two groups on the test-retest were statistically significant in favor of the experimental group in the achievement in speaking skill of tenth grade students due to the integrated method at a = 0.05.
3- The differences between the mean scores of the two groups on the test-retest were statistically significant in favor of the experimental group in the achievement in reading skill of tenth grade students due to the integrated method at a = 0.05.
4- The differences between the mean scores of the two groups on the test-retest were statistically significant in favor of the experimental group in the achievement in writing skill of tenth grade students due to the integrated method at a = 0.05.
The study recommended the necessity of conducting more research in using the integrative learning skills.
It also recommended the necessity of conducting training courses for teachers of English should be held to train them on how to use the integrative learning in teaching.
