English Abstract
This study aimed at investigating the effect of using concept mapping strategy in teaching English grammar for 10th graders in Al-Qasr Directorate of Education during the second semester 2010/2011. The study attempted to answer the following research questions : 1.
Are there any statistical significant differences at (α ≤ 0.05) between concept mapping strategy and the conventional strategies on 10th graders' English grammar? 2.
Are there any statistical significant differences at (α ≤ 0.05) attributed to the effect of gender ? The sample of the study included 93 male and female 10th graders in Sarfa Secondary School for Boys and Sarfa Secondary School for girls whom were assigned into two groups, the experimental group (48 male and female students ) and the control group (45 male and female students. The findings of the study indicated that there were statistical significant differences between the control and the experimental groups in students' achievement in English grammar in favor of the experimental group.
Also, there were no statistical significant differences between male and female 10th graders achievement scores on the post-test in English language grammar that are attributed to gender. The study concluded with a group of recommendations, among them that the Ministry of Education in Jordan should emphasize on applying new strategies in general and the concept mapping strategy in particular as they proved their positive effects on the student's achievement in this study and other studies.
For future research, the researcher recommended conducting more studies on the effect of using concept mapping strategy on larger samples with a variety of students' levels including variables such as the socio-economic status, the demographic features, and many other variables.
