English Abstract
G ood quality is the most important characteristic of table grapes.
Therefore, a study was carried out in 2009, at Ghor Al-Safi in the southern Jordan valley to investigate quality improvement for two table grape cultivars, namely Red Globe and Superior Seedless.
The study included two experiments.
The first experiment was carried out on ‘Red Globe’ 12 days before full bloom to study the effects of topping, pinching, and application of growth retardant cycocel at 1000 and 2000 ppm on the yield and quality of this cultivar.
The results demonstrated that application of cycocel at both concentrations increased yield and berry set, whereas topping and pinching had no affected on cluster quality improvement, yield and berry set.
The second experiment this experiment was carried out on ‘Superior Seedless’ 28 days after full bloom (period beginning of coloration) with the aim of studying the effects of girdling and application of vapor gard 2.5 and 5 ml/L on improvement quality of this cultivar.
The results indicated that all treatments had no effect on quality of clusters; moreover, girdling had negative effect on the yield and quality.
