English Abstract

This study presents an experimental and numerical investigation on the influence of embedded spearhead reinforcement (steel plate) on the punching shear strength of reinforced concrete slabs.

Three groups of spearhead were used, first group (T) was made using a steel plate with T-section stiffeners, and the stiffeners were fabricated to be with two lines welded on the tension face of the plates.

A second group (H) was made using a steel plate with connectors ; the connectors were fabricated to be with hat shape welded on the tension face of the plates.

A third group (TH) is a combined of group (T) and group (H).

The main variables studied were the dimension, thickness, direction of steel plate and effect of stiffeners, shear connector (number and distribution) on punching shear behavior.
