English Abstract
As computer networking has expanded and matured, there has been a growing requirement to collect traffic statistics for understanding the current load and planning future connectivity.
This requirement lead to consider the general problem of a software packet monitor for analyzing traffic patterns and gathering statistics, a software monitoring system named "Effective Wireless Monitoring Tool" (EWMT) has been built to help the network administrator to discover network problems as soon a3 possible.
The proposed system achieves its goal by sniffing, capturing, and analyzing the network traffic data packets by using passive monilroing without affecting or interfering with the network information flow by configuring the network in promiscuous mode, It extracts and views different valuable detailed information concerning the network in human- readable format .The EWMT taps protocol that runs at the IP level including TCP and UDP and other protocols above that, such as DNS, HTTP, and FTP, EWMT is based on a network library (Netlib), which has been designed and implemented, for this project framework and that is responsible for all network related operations.
EWMT comprises three main modules: GUI which is responsible for all user interface related operations, Main window that is responsible for all client area related operations, and Tools which deal with all none GUI operations.
The EWMT gives network administrators a centralized view of their networks according to three major applications.
The first one deals with the manipulation of the working machine network interface viewing and its BDF-created with BDF-Factory trial version www.pdffactory.com.
