English Abstract

Manufacturers in today's market place face tough competition.

To become competitive and ensure long-term survival, it is important for ism to stick to their product development strategies, continuously improve their products, and respond promptly to changes in the global [market.

Product development is one of the important stages in the product life cycle where the Integration between designs, process planning and manufacturing is recognized starting from .its conceptual phase.

Setup 1 arming has been regarded as a challenging task in computer aided process planning (CAPP), it takes product design and manufacturing requirement intonation from a CAD model and provides information to CAM for NC programming and fixture design.

Features are predominantly used in process planning because they have predictable properties that assist the activities of process planning.

From s process planer viewpoint, setup planning considered as a crucial task Fthat represents different types of features.

Knowledge-based techniques are suitable for performing the various activities in set-up planning.

On the other hand, Knowledge-based techniques are suitable for determining manufacturing features relations.

Manufacturing Features relations due to the various factors in machining are important constraints in set-up planning.

They greatly influence the set-up forming and sequencing process.

To accomplish those tasks, an integrated methodology is presented to generate setups and select setup plans and to determine setup sequence.
