English Abstract

The aim of this research is to design an electroacoustic system, which works with estimating the sound source depending on single snapshot from received signal by using Neural Network (NN).

This system consists of four main stages.

The first stage is linear Nested Microphone Array (NMA) to get narrow beam-width with very low side-lobe to receive signals at frequency band (50-7200) Hz.

This array seems to be on-uniform distance but it consists of four uniform distance sub-arrays each one has a limited distance and frequency band.

It distributed as follows : the first sub-array has band frequency between (3600-7200)Hz and the distance between two adjacent microphones is 2.5cm, the second sub-array has band frequency between (lSO0-360O) fiz and the distance between two adjacent microphones is 5 cm, the third sub-array has band frequency between (900-1800)Hi and the distance between two adjacent microphones is 10 cm, the fourth sub-array has band frequency between (50-900)Hz and the distance between two adjacent microphones is 20 cm.

Two models of NMA are used the first model has 11 microphones where each sub-array has 5 microphones, the second model is proposed model has 29 microphones where each sub-array has 11 microphones, Two types of microphone used first type is omnidirectional microphone and second type is cardioids microphone.

The amplitudes distributed in two cases equal and Dolph Tschebyscheff amplitudes distribution.

By comparing the results found that by increasing number of microphones as in second model the beam-width is narrower than first model with less Side-Lobe Level (SLL), when using cardioids microphone the beam-width is unidirectional while with omnidirectional microphone the beam-width is bidirectional, when Dolph-Tschebyscheff
