English Abstract

To prove the identification and authentication, this thesis is introduced a recent class of biometric based upon lip features for use in the development of passive identification systems.

The future of biometrics will surely lead to systems based on image analysis as the data acquisition is very simple and requires only cameras.

More importantly such methods could be passive, which means that the user dose not even know that the process of identification takes place.

The lip is the most interesting human anatomical part for such passive, physiological biometrics systems based on images acquired from cameras.

Lip contains a large volume of unique features that allow to distinctively identifying many users and will be surely implemented into efficient biometrics systems for many applications, for instance, terrorist at the airports, stations, access control to various buildings and crowd surveillance in any place.

One goal of the work presented in this thesis is to build a passive secure system by identify a person without his knowledge.

This thesis uses a combination of shape and voice analysis, gray level segmentation and motion information for finding the positions of precise location and shape of the mouth (region of interest).

This thesis fallowed two type of work to recognize a subject by his lip tracing, the first way is off-line work which is used to authenticate a subject by taking a front image for him and matching efficiency rate in this way is 83 % to 100 % depending on using lip image or voice only or both of them.

The second way is online work which handles different complexions of people, head orientations moustache, and beards.

Capturing their faces during saying short or long sentence.

The matching efficiency rate in this way is 93 % to 100 % which acts as good result and can be applied easily by the end user.
