English Abstract

In this research, a pulsed Nd : YAG laser with wavelength (1064nm) and (532 nm) and pulse duration (100 ns) for different energies [250 mJ,500 mJ,750 mJ,1000 mJ.] and spot size (105 mm) was used.

The alloys used were [Al-Cu-Si], [Al-Si-Mg] and [AL-Zn-Mg].The essential aim for this work includes study the effect of laser parameters on wrought aluminum alloys.

In laser surface engineering the mirohardness and wear tests will be studied after laser treatment.

The effect of laser parameters includes : .

1- The effect of the pulsed Nd : YAG laser energy ).

2- The effect of the number of shots (pulse 3- The effect of the wavelength (532 nm).

The results reveal : * With increasing laser energy, the value of the mirohardness of [Al-Si-Mg] alloy will increase * while the values of mirohardness of [Al-Cu-Si] alloy and [AL-Zn-Mg] alloy will decrease.

* The value of the mirohardness will decrease as moving away from the center of the strike for [Al-Si-Mg] alloy, and the value of mirohardness will increase by moving away from the center of the strike for [Al-Cu-Si] and [AL-Zn-Mg] alloys.

* In the [Al-Cu-Si] and [AL-Zn-Mg] alloys, it is noted that the amount of loss in weight is greater than the loss of weight with the base metal, as for the [Al-Si-Mg], the results showed that the amount of loss is less than the amount of loss in the alloy before the treatment.

* The treatment by laser leads to decrease the wear rate for [Al-Si-Mg] alloy and the treatment by laser leads to increase the wear rate for [Al-Cu-Si] and [AL-Zn-Mg] alloys.
