English Abstract

Steganography is a way of embedding just about any kind of file or data within another " cover" file.

Steganography can be implemented in Sound files to hide your private and confidential data within these files in such a way that no one excepts you will know about its existence.

Hiding in sound becomes a challenging discipline, since the Human Auditory System is extremely sensitive.

A popular method for steganography in sound cover involves the use of Least Significant Bit (LSB) substitution. In this thesis, a text in sound steganography system is proposed in order to embed a text data in sound file with high data rate by modulating the amplitude of a wave file working in time domain There are sixteen main hiding Techniques used to complete the hiding phase.

The proposed system uses the concept of blind steganography which does not need original sound file in the extraction stage. To increase the hiding rate and the security of the system the secret text is compressed by using (Run Length Encoding (RLE) and Shift-coding) compression methods.

To support the immunity of the proposed hiding system and for additional security levels, an encryption method is added to the proposed hiding system. All of the fidelity measures (Mean Square Error (MSE), Signal to Noise ratio (SNR) and Peak Signal to Noise ratio (PSNR)) obtained in the tests have indicated good results for PSNR and the MSE values are minimum.
