English Abstract
Geothermal heat pump is a new technology in air conditioning systems.
The manuals procedure and standards of 1GSHPA (International Ground Source Heat Pump Association) was- used to design the geothennal heat pump in Baghdad, also to investigate the applicability and efficiency of a ground coupled heating system in order to reduce the energy consumption.
The experimental study based on using a vertical borehole with a depth of 7.25 meter was used, the design of the borehole depends on A small unit of water-to-water heat pump was used for heating an enclosure with the dimension of 1.45 m * 0.
65 m * 0.-65 m.
The heat extraction rate from the soil is found to be, on average, (59.03) W / r of the hone depth, while the required borehole length in meter per kW of heating capacity is obtained as (13.49 mutt).
The entering water temperature to the unit is measured to be l5AaC.
The heating coefficient of performance of the heat pump COP for a unit is about 2.574, while that for the whole system is obtained to be 2.054.
The results are analyzed in terms of hourly and daily operation characteristics.
The results of this study were compared with previous researchers and comparisons show & fairly good agreement.
Also in comparison with the conventional air-source heat pump, the ground coupled systems have higher coefficients of performance and are better to maintain the capacity during the ambient extreme*.
The result shows a notable saving consumption.
The energy destruction rates were evaluated and the highest exerfiy destruction occurs in the compressor, followed by the evaporator, capillary tube and condenser.
