English Abstract
In this thesis, the dynamic behavior of a Single Sided Linear Induction Motor (SLIM) is studied by changing many design parameters of a reference model of SLIM and then an optimization process is adopted to give the final equivalent circuit of the proposed modified model.
This analysis is prepared by using MATLAB package, version 7.8 (R2009a) for optimization and enhancement evaluation.
The improvement in performance is performed by enhancing the efficiency power factor product (cos) which can be regarded as the enhancement criteria for the modified model of this motor.
This factor improved from 0.23 to the reference model to 0.66 to the optimized model.
The final equivalent circuit of the modified proposed model and the geometry that taken from the optimized model have been used as input parameters for the simulation of SLIM.
The simulation analyses are performed by using MATLAB / SIMULINK package.
This package allows creating mathematical blocks with a certain input and desired output.
This model is tested at different cases; no load, and variable load.
A comparison is made at direct power supply and through Voltage Source Inverter (VSI) as a motor drive with large speed variation at many modulation index values.
The results are presented for the cases with and without PID controller to improve the dynamic performance of the model.
