English Abstract

-Electrical power systems become huge and complicated, for this reason, it is difficult to maintain the stability of the system, and the improvements of power system stability become an important issue.

This work, study and analyze the stability of system through rotor angle and voltage is proposed.

The effect of Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR) and Turbine Governor (TG) are taken into account to improve performance of the systems considered.

The load flow program was implemented using Newton-Raphson method and the numerical solutions of non-linear differential equations are solved using Trapezoidal method.

The programs that are used in this work are implemented using (MATLAB version 7.4.0.287 R 2007a) package based on Power System Analysis Toolbox (PSAT version 2.1.6) software.

Two systems are studied, the first system is IEEE or WSCC (9-bus bars), and the second system is the Iraqi (400 KV) electrical network 24-bus bars.

A three phase to ground fault at different locations and different cases (temporary fault, permanent fault and finally, temporary fault and permanent fault together) are tested.

From the results obtained, when the rotor angle is unstable, the voltage is unstable too, but when the voltage is unstable it is not necessary the rotor angle is unstable.

Therefore, the voltage must be studied in all cases and systems.

The results obtained gave identical results which are given in published references, and gave acceptable results for the Iraqi (400 KV) electrical network.
