English Abstract

Three-phase induction motors are widely used in industry applications, because the\ have several advantages, km cost, and high reliability and require less maintenance than the other type of motors.

Bui when the supply is connected directly to the motor, die starting current is very high and large than rated current in many timer,, the high starting current can cause severe problems to the motor, control e ire oils and power system.

Therefore, this thesis designs and implements a soft starting controller for three phase induction motors using fuzzy logic technique.

The soft-starters use the current through the slater winding of the motor as feedback, in which the voltage is adjusted through the setting of the IGI1T fir ins; angle The proposed fuzzy control configuration is based on current error and change of current error, The hardware control circuits are divided into two groups, the first one is to determine the suitable trigger angle to the load according to their windings resistance which arc called the initial starring circuit.

The second is to monitor the motor operation and runs in order to compensate the trigger angle value when any disturbances occur at the motor, (his is called tracking circuit, also provides the protection circuits such as phase failure, over current and under voltage.

This thesis surveys the different starling methods that are used in minimization of starting current and energy consumption.

Speed sensor less technology has also been proposed in this diesis to overcome the disadvantages of cost and fragility of a mechanical speed sensor.

The proposed controller was compared through experimental studies under identical conditions with the conventional controller, it was demonstrated better performance, real time processing and offered some advantages than the conventional controller.
