English Abstract

Acoustics is very important for human being communications, but sound level should not exceed the harmful level that may have a bad effect on human health and buildings structure, the knowledge in this field may help in developing legislation or multi rules to protect people from the high noise level by imposing conditions on building requiring using multi methods to limit the noise effects In this work, a study on the sound transmission losses and transmission coefficient of a single sound wave through specific single, double and multi layers at normal incident for a range of frequencies (16 Hz - 4 KHz) and for a set of materials within impedance range (0 - 6* 10 ) kg/m2.sec and range of material layer thickness has been done.

With the assuming there is no absorption (neglected the absorbed sound wave in materials) and at standard conditions where atmospheric pressure (P = 1 bar) and Temperature = 20 c°, the theory derived can be extended to n of layers which each layer represented by one matrix, then by multiplication the matrix of each layer by the matrix of the next layer, the result will be substituting in general equation and will give the overall sound transmission of the layers, and by use matlab program the calculations of the sound transmission wave were done.
