English Abstract

This thesis is concerned with the design and simulate of a three-pliase induction motor drive using vector (field-oriented) control strategy and voltage-fed controller using space-vector PWM inverter.

Many researches are available in this theme but it lacks to the design procedure for obtaining the controllers parameters of such drive.

In this thesis the mathematical model of the induction motor and the principle of direct and indirect field-oriented control are introduced.

The concept of space-vector PWM inverter is clarified and derivations of the timing of switching state vector in under-and over-modulation region in different schemes are described.

Also, rotor flux is estimated in two different methods and die effect of countermen that produced in the stator of induction motor has been considered.

The speed range of the motor is extended beyond synchronous speed and field-weakening technique is used.

A Simulink / Matlab program is prepared for simulating the overall drive system that include; induction motor model, space-vector pulsewidth modulation inverter and indirect field-oriented control.

An experimental procedure is used in.

this Simulink system to investigate the sub-optimal controllers gain parameters in different operating conditions.

Several iterations with different parameters give a set of proportional and integral gains parameters that made the system stable with high performance under different operating conditions.

The results that describe the output characteristics of the system are plotted and discussed.

Also, the harmonics content of the motor current are analyzed in different speeds and compared with other type of drive controller.

This analysis shows high reduction in the dominant harmonics when SVPWM inverter is used.
