English Abstract

The developing world is in a feverish race to take the lead in the information technology war.

The best winner who keeps his resources safe and secure from alteration and prevents unauthorized access to his files.

This can be secured through several means including available off-the shelf software's. In this thesis the Internet language Java is studied for use in access limitation of the Internet navigators.

By so doing the malicious programs could be forbidden from getting into the system, besides using it in a client / server connection.

This was achieved through a peer to peer LAN and any attempt to share the resources with the server as well as the user will be asked for a predefined password for the system users. The algorithms for the security is set upon using the Java security manager class properties.

Based upon the security exceptions offered by the security manager class, decisions will be taken and the exceptions will be thrown.

The software is tested for the access control limitation where no web site can be accessed if it is not predefined.

The assurance of no other way of Internet accessing is available is done by removing the Internet explorer icon from the desktop.
