English Abstract

The polypropylene (PP) and poly methylmethacrylite (PMMA) is a commercially important polymers, which are of practical use in a wide variety of engineering applications.

So that if one wants to extend the field of application of this material, an improvement of the thermal, mechanical, and physical properties is usually necessary.

A relatively easy way to improve the thermal, mechanical, and physical properties of the polymer is the addition of filler materials such as kaolin powder.

The specimens of composite materials were prepared from matrix (polypropylene and poly methylmethacrylite) with different weight fraction and different particle size of kaolin, then a study on some properties of thermal, mechanical, and physical properties was carried out on all composites which were prepared separately and the coefficient of reinforcement with particles on the properties.

The mechanical tests included (impact, hardness, modulus of elasticity, \ie!d strength.

elongation, stress at break, compression tests), which were carried out at different particle size, and different weight fraction of filer to study the influence of particle size and weight fraction of kaolin on the properties.

The thermal test included using Lee's disc method to calculate the coefficient of the thermal conductivity of specimens before and after reinforcement with kaolin powder and also before and after reinforcement.

The physical properties test included density and absorption tests, which were carried out at different weight fraction of filler to study the effect of weight fraction and particle size on the properties.

The results have shown that after the reinforcement with different weight fraction of kaolin powder most mechanical properties such as hardness and modulus of elasticity, compression except impact increase, elongation With an increase in weight fraction and adecrease in particle size.
