English Abstract
The Idea of this research is to evaluate the capability of using thermal remote sensing techniques to detect and recognize the water pollution resultant from oil and its ingredients as part of petrochemical pollutions and study the behavior of oil types in storage tanks.
In this present work, the digital image analysis is used as a main work for remote sensing technique to study the ability of thermal remote sensing technique in detection oil pollution.
The experimental work of this thesis includes imaging the study area Al-Mashhad oil storage tank depot by a thermal camera with a spectral range of (8-12fim) taking field measurements during the time of imaging like the types and quantity of oil types found in each storage tank and time of exposure and temperatures.
In addition, an Aerial Photography is taken to the study area by an Aerial Camera in a Visible Band of (0.4-0.7um).
The next step is processing the image by a digital image processing like (image enhancement, image classification and Analysis) to find the Digit Number (DN) for each type of oil and find radiant existence.
A mathematical model has been developed, which relates the digital numbers of thermal images to measured Temperatures.
Another mathematical model is developed to relate the thermal remittance of oil types to the digital numbers (DN) of the thermal image and to find the thickness of the refractory lining and then to establish a relationship between Temperature and DN.
All these fields and processing improve the thermal technique applicability in oil pollution detection and provide the required database quickly and with less effort and cost.
