English Abstract
Genetic algorithms (GAs) are an efficient method for solving difficult automated electronic and electric design problems.
In this work, a novel method was proposed to design electronic and electric circuits by using software approach based on genetic algorithms.
The method is implemented to design several low pass ; high pass and band pass filters by make use of the response of the filter and cutoff frequency.
Butterworth response type is chosen to be the target filter response because of its smooth response.
The proposed method allows the topology, the component values, and the number of the component of the circuit to be evolving by using a program based on the genetic algorithms (GAs) without human interference.
Therefore, this method can be expanding to be used with any analogue (passive or active) electronic or electric circuit by making a few changes in the program steps (i.e.
by changing the fitness function and improving the simulation of the circuits).
This method provides impressive results and the circuits obtained are more efficient than the circuit which might be designed by even an expert engineer (similarity between the actual response and the target is between 99.729-99.999 % for the tested evolved circuits).
MATLAB (Ver.
7) language is used in programming the genetic algorithm.
The circuits created by genetic algorithms are built using Electronics Workbench (EWB) program to make sure that the obtained results are true and accurate.
