English Abstract

The Global Positioning System GPS is quickly becoming the standard for civilian personal and commercial navigation and position location, application such as automobile router mapping and orienteering as well as commercial cargo tracking are all receiving benefits from GPS One of the most critical components in both communication and GPS systems is the antenna.

The design process of GPS receiver antenna as it has to face significant challenges including uniform coverage of all satellites and the rejection of the multipath signals.

In this thesis several micro strip antenna designs to operate at LI GPS civilian frequency are presented and investigated with different substrate material parameters.

Some recent applications need small size compact antenna to integrate the GPS receiver with mobile electronic devices such cellular phone, antenna size reduction methods are investigated and some compact micro strip antennas are designed for different substrate materials and thickness.

Evaluations of each of the proposed designs are carried out and the resulting antenna performance is found to be in good agreement with the specified requirement.

The simulation of the proposed designs is achieved by using Microwave office package 2000, ver.
