English Abstract
A gneral coding strategy leading to a family of universal image compression systems was designed to give good performance in application of Space-frequency quantization.
ln this thesis, different methods for gray scale image compression were suggested and investigated, these methods exploit the space segmentation, frequency transform, and Quantization features.
Different schemes involve different of the combinations of these methods with various transforms were test.
Recently a new class of image coding algorithms based on coupling Wavelet transform (frequency domain) with Quadtree partitioning (spatial domain) has attracted wide attention because its good performance appears to confirm the promised efficiencies of hierarchical representation.
Space segmentation is an important step in segmenting the gray scale image to analyze the interested reign.
This step work as a feature classification to determine the good way to derive with each segmented region.
The region is a.
variable size block, which step over the disadvantages of fixed size blokes by using the Quadtree partitioning (QT).
Wavelet Transform (WT) provides a framework of variety of research areas with various aspects of imaging information.
In this work the architecture of LiftingScheme (LS) was implemented by adopting the biorthogonal wavelet filters (9 / 7) tap and (5 / 3) tap.
Vector Quantization (VQ) is a well-known technique among the blocks based compression techniques.
To take advantage of the VQ's potential several modifications have been proposed, implemented and tested, the results indicated that the performance of the suggested system is well acceptable.
