English Abstract
Eddy current testing can be used to detect faults in metal tube by passing the tube through a pair of short solenoid coils which are energized by an alternating current.
The decrease in density of the induced eddy currents from the outer surface is determined by the frequency of the energizing current and by the electrical properties and dimensions of the tube.
Since the eddy-currents flow in a circumferential direction, the same as when current flows in the direction of the axis.
The distribution of eddy currents flowing circumferentially is given in general terms for non-magnetic tube.
