English Abstract

The ever increasing expenditure and investment in information technology leads to an increasing demand to measure the maturity level in the researched firms.

Therefore, the main goal of this study is to investigate the strategic alignment maturity level and how it can be improved by the firms using business transformation alignment which addresses both how IT is in harmony with the business and how the business should, or could be in harmony with IT.

The researcher introduces "business transformation'' concept in order to face the strategic alignment challenges between business and information technology especially the several environmental challenges that the organizations face, and to achieve a high level of alignment.

In this context theoretical and empirical studies were done.

To achieve the above goals a questionnaire was designed to data collection and was analyzed using statistical package of social science.

The study has reached to the following main conclusions: There is a positive relationship between business transformation and strategic alignment maturity level and there is a significant statistical effect of business transformation upon strategic alignment maturity level.

In addition, the study recommended that the researched Jordanian firms should pay attention to the business transformation and should give a specific care to the six criteria of strategic alignment maturity.
