English Abstract

This thesis describes a kind of research in the field of information systems, more specifically, in knowledge transfer in the pharmaceutical companies.

The study aims to develop and test a model of the determinants of knowledge transfer, and innovation, specifically in the Jordanian pharmaceutical industry. The research, studying the relationships between knowledge transfer and innovation in the pharmaceutical industry, explaining the relationship between KT and organizational reflection, dialogue, double loop learning in order to product and services development .KT becomes cumulative and embedded within organization's process, products and services, which eventually contribute to increase the organizational competitiveness. Thus, knowledge articulation, internalization, extension, appropriation, assimilation, and, dissemination, facilitate companies' ability for innovation, and enhancing a firm's competitiveness.

In this study, the researcher focused on Hedlund model, tried to investigate this model statically in the pharmaceutical industry in Jordan, and to know the impact of knowledge transfer on innovation within the Jordan pharmaceutical firms for being a different geographical and organizational dispersion, in an attempt to know its effect on increasing innovation in this sector.

The results of the survey on (211) respondents in several pharmaceutical companies in Jordan, revealed that they have a significant impact of knowledge transfer, innovation, and competitive advantage.

At the same time, there is a significant effect between the mentioned variables and the other dependent variables (articulation, internalization, extension, appropriation, assimilation and dissemination).

On the other hand, reflection has the least relationship in knowledge transfer.

It can be justified that people in Jordan concentrate on theoretical education than the experimental and practical ones.

These results lead to recommend companies to make the way of learning more practical.

In addition, it is recommended that companies need leeway for interaction, access to computer-mediated possibilities of knowledge transfer, they also should be intrinsically motivated, to foster strong team culture.

Companies’ management should focus on the creative, generative, shared knowledge ; it constructed knowledge for the creation of new knowledge, because it is one of the ways to competitive advantage.

In addition, the researcher recommended companies to focus on tools that are useful for knowledge transfer.
