English Abstract

In this study necessity of reinforcing large- diameter bored piles are assessed.

Selected pile groups belonging to a new project under construction are re-analyzed using two computer programs.

By the first computer program and under the design loading, the selected pile groups are analyzed to calculate the different forces and moments acting upon each single pile in the groups For each pile group the individual pile subjected to the most sever loading is appointed and analyzed later by the second computer program as a single pile subjected to the combination of loading resulted from the previous analysis of die pile group.

Soil and pile properties are modeled into the computer programs by simple techniques according to the available soil profile data and pile test results.

A parametric study is carried out to assess the effect of some of the parameters of soil and geometry of pile and pile group? It is found that under the design loading adopted the value of bending moment and uplift forces are limited, "which means that the reinforcement necessary for such cases of load in gear be eliminated.

It is also found that the pile diameter and the unsupported length of apple have great effect on bending moment.
