English Abstract

Wastewater disposal systems are considered one of the basic an important elements when considering town development and progress, especially that the techno logical progress had and still imposing additional requirements on this side, inducing the design be considered more than an economic and conventional ones, especially that the design of such systems requires interacted contributions of different engineering branches.

And because, the manhole represents the main part of the whole system, the structural design of the manhole has been of a special importance to achieve the desired efficiency and performance of the sewerage network.

This study has taken the problem of structural design into consideration in order to achieve applicable designs of manholes.

The computer program which is used in this design is STAAD-UI program version 19.

The new application of this study is the use of STAAIMH program which is widely used in other engineering and scientific regions.

The results of this study recommend a design program which is bases on theoretical and scientific foundations for the design of reinforced concrete square and circular manholes.

The results of this study indicate the program has a very large economical advantage because it calculates the quantity of reinforcement steel per part of the structure and it declares the actual behaviour of the structure under the influence of loadings.
