English Abstract

The main objectives of the present research are the study of the Characteristic residential solid wast6 (R.S.W) in Kut City, estimation of the generation rate, and the evaluation and design of collection and disposal system of Kut City.

This research was conducted during eight months from August 1997 to August 1998 ; Thirty-two samples were analyzed to determine the properties of Kut solid waste.

The refuse was Cassini in food wastes, paper, glass plashes, textile, leather, garden trimmings, and dirt, ash, etc.

In analyzing Kut residential solid waste data, the food wastes resent the highest mass percentage of (63.7 %) due to tow industrial level community now come of most families which leads to produce a high food waste percentage, The average moisture content and the as discarded density of Kut solid waste were estimated to be 44.35 % and 213.5 kg / m ; respectively Using American typical data on ultimate analysis of the combustible components in municipal solid waste, the chemical formula of Kut solid waste was estimated to be [C416 H 1690 O724 N16 S] with sulfur and [C25 H104 O44 N] Without sulfur.

The energy based on dry basis was estimated to be 12 654 kj / ka.

By distributing plastic sacks and questionnaire form to 25 families of afferent fife states in the city.

The average refuse generation rate of Kut City was estimated to be 0.340 kg / capita Way with standard deviation of 0.08 the residential solid waste generation rate per capita per day in Kut Cy, increases with increase of income and area of household and decreases with crease of number of capita per household.

The influence of income is greater than that for area of household.

in analyzing the present collection system in Kut City, it is found that ail collection vehicles perform one trip a day for, l.

districts ,n 9 hours, and the average pickup time of refuse per trip was 3.5 hr.
