English Abstract

Knowledge can be defined as “information that has been organized and analyzed to make it understandable and applicable to problem solving or decision making".

So it cannot be considered as a new concept, as it is existing from the early start of human kind.

The problem of this research is to identify the impact of organizational context (i.e.

organizational culture, organizational structure, and organizational infrastructure) on employees’ knowledge-sharing abilities in different Jordanian companies that participated in King Abdullah II Award for Excellence.

This study addressed the need for a comprehensive investigation of knowledge sharing and it barriers in selected company through an in-depth examination of this issue within an organizational setting.

Also this research measures the impact of some demographic factors (like gender, age, qualifications, years of experience, and managerial level) that influence employees’ attitudes towards knowledge sharing.

The research sample consists of (500) questionnaire distributed into 25 different companies / institutions.

420 questionnaires were received, the percentage of returning questionnaire was 84 %.

To maintain high validity in this study previous research items was conducted for the instrument that was used, also having feedback from expert academics and senior managers and based on their comments amendments were carried out Chronbach's alpha test which considered to be the most common test for data reliability and results for this study was very good as it shows that a is (0.95) for all the questions.

By testing organizational context effect on knowledge sharing using Simple Regression it was found out that there is an impact of 0.554 on knowledge sharing referred to organizational context which supported our theory that there is an impact of organizational context on knowledge sharing.

This study was conducted on public governmental sector; generalization of the results may not be wise as culture difference between private and public although there might be similar results applicable for both sectors.

There are other variables than organizational context affect knowledge sharing that were not covered in this research.

Taken in consideration increasing the size of the sample will definitely increase the reliability of results.

It is recommended that organization should focus more in performance reward based system as it appears to have a great deal of impact in knowledge sharing.

It was predicted that IT infrastructure is not fully used by employees ; recommendation will be using a simple user interfaces and appropriate continuous training that will help in leveraging the IT knowledge between those workers.

Those organizations that participated in this research are related to international standards EFQM which will need more work on the leadership of those organizations by transferring their attitudes toward a knowledge learning organizations.

Sharing the knowledge ; will never be one man show it needed comprehensive effort from every one and in all positions and any implementation must address people, processes and technology and not in isolation to each other.
