English Abstract

In simulation, spatial data that analyzed often come from irregularly distributed sampling locations.

Hence, selecting a standard distribution may not be adequate for the prediction.

Interest is in modeling the data, i.e.

estimating distributional parameters, and then to predict the phenomenon under study at unobserved data within the corresponding sampling domain.

Actually, the method of Kriging for spatial prediction was introduced to cover the problem of spatial trend effects.

In the recent years the Kriging interpolation has been embedded into simulation.

However, for the sake of clearness, Kriging is sensitive to additive outliers.

An outlier resistant method for spatial prediction can be obtained by median polish method.

Median Polish Kriging is a technique used to predict unobserved data points in two-dimensional space.

The linear behavior of the traditional Median Polish Kriging in the estimation of the mean function in a high grid makes the interpolation of O (1) which has a low order in the prediction and that leads to a high prediction error.

Therefore, in this thesis, an improvement in the estimation of the mean function was introduced through Inharmonic spline interpolation and the new technique which called Improved Median Polish Kriging (IMPK).

The IMPK was applied to the standard coal-ash data in two-dimension.

The IMPK has been validated using Leave-One-Out method.

The novel method gave much better results according to the cross validation results that were obtained in comparison with the traditional Median Polish Kriging.
