English Abstract

The purpose of this study is to provide a better understanding of what factors will enhance the successful rate of Information Technology (IT) projects in the telecommunication organizations in Jordan, and to propose the use of the Knowledge Management (KM) in implementing IT projects.

The researcher presented the success and failure factors of the IT projects.

Most of the studies are showing that less than 32 % of the IT projects completed successfully.

The study focused on the human factor importance in projects accomplishment.

The researcher found that the employees’ turnover is one of the most important variables that caused project failures.

KM is a developed concept, and using it will enhance the learning curve of the organization.

Organizations realized that knowledge became one of the key assets for competitiveness and it’s a primary factor which leads to competitive advantage.

Achieving IT projects successfully means meeting the timeframe within the budget and delivering the required functionalities.

Accordingly, the findings of the literature review are in the form of a list of the key IT projects challenges.

Following from that, a survey was distributed for the purpose of evaluating specific challenges in the telecommunication organizations.

The study’s conclusions are based on both the findings of the experiences and the survey.

The research finding concludes the classification of the IT projects challenges (Internal environment, External environment and turnover), and the effect of these variables on the IT projects accomplishment.

The researcher proposed a new model that will alleviate the employee's turnover negative impact when implementing IT projects in the telecommunication organizations and will theoretically lead to enhance the IT projects success rate.
