English Abstract
We have studied the melting behavior of Poly (ethylene succinate) (PES) which has been crystallized from the melt.
Its melting behavior was studied by differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) and its spherulitic structure was studied by polarizing optical microscope over the range 55 to 70 °C.
In nearly all cases, dual or triple melting endotherms were seen, but the location and shape of the endotherm melting peaks depend on the crystallization temperature and on the prior thermal history.
The first melting peak was attributed to the melting of subsidiary lamellae in the PES spherulitic.
The middle melting peak was considered to be the melting endotherm of the dominant lamellae which have thermal stability.
The final melting endotherm was ascribed to the melting of the crystallites formed through reorganization of the crystallites with high thermal stability during the DSC heating process.
