English Abstract
An Enterprise Resource Planning system is considered highly risk, since it is large, complex, and usually unfamiliar to the organization.
Furthermore, implementation entails tight timetable, business process reengineering and many changes.
To reduce the risk and improve the probability of project success, this thesis introduces a new implementation model, beginning with planning stages and culminating in the implementation and evolving stage.
The aim of this model is to allow development companies to develop traditional application with the ERP characteristics in order to be adaptive with the environment change in smooth way, based on business process concepts.
The new implementation model is based on integration between three structure models : the waterfall, iterative, and XP models.
Due to the unique features of the ERP system, none of the three approaches could be only used for development and implementation of ERP system.
Hence, the new ERP model development is combines the main features from these approaches and be compatible with the unique features of an ERP project.
The new development and implementation model characterized by it looks to the company as enterprise architecture that involves separated business processes surrounded by change management and business development components ; combines activities that attend to changes in the technological infrastructure of the organization .Additionally, the use of prototyping as an integral part of the development.
The new model addresses the problems early enough of implementation by the introduction of preparation phase during the early phases of the ERP life cycle, and due to the wide scope and system complexity, the implementation of ERP system is performed iteratively.
By using this model, an organization can reduce ERP project risk and increase the probability of project success.
