English Abstract

It is being known that use of the Internet and its related technologies can be a competitive means for small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs); this is because of its global reach, cut of time restraints, and ability to decrease costs and increase sales.

Countries around the world are attracted to the successful implementation of the Internet by SMEs ; this is because most of jobs come from the sector of SMEs, bigger financial success of SMEs translates into larger job development and, consequently, higher tax revenue to the government.

Jordanian SMEs should exploit the opportunities offered by EC to narrow the gap with developed economies.

This research investigated the level of Internet usage through a survey of a 100 firms with less than 250 employees ; to review the current condition of Internet adoption for business solutions by Jordanian SMEs and key issues that affected their adoption ; to aid them correspond to their real needs in competing in global marketplaces.

This research found that in spite of the observation that Jordanian SMEs are advanced in their use of the Internet as a business solution, but most of them have restricted their use of the Internet to brochure ware and have not exploited their use of Internet through engagement of fully integrated EB processes, the results also show that the building of a Web site does not automatically lead to more participation of the Internet as a business solution.

Based on the communication with (Dr.

Ezz Edin Hattab), the supervisor of this research ; the researcher build his thesis with his hope that the results will serve those private, public, and academic institutions concerned with helping Jordanian SMEs to be advance in their use of internet and get advantages from exporting their product via this competitive mean.
