English Abstract

Water scarcity is one of the difficult challenges that Jordan faces today.

The annual availability of fresh water resources for all uses has declined severely that puts our country in the category of absolute chronic water shortage.

The domestic sector is the second highest contributor in consuming the limited water resources.

Therefore, this study seeks to improve the water use efficient practices within the residential buildings and reduce water consumption and water bills based on applying the requirements of the Jordanian Green Building Guideline.

Accordingly, multiple scenarios were proposed for the water efficiency credits that were implemented on three main groups of water users ; indoor, outdoor, and general.

The research case study was applied on different geographical areas / stations in Jordan with respect to the annual average rainfall (R) and the vapor-transpiration rate (ET).

The scenarios in all three groups were evaluated according to the achievements of saving in water consumption, water bills, the feasibility of green technologies, and the number of green points obtained during the evaluation of the JGBG rating system.

Accordingly, the research case study concluded that optimum scenarios should be considered during the design process in all areas of Jordan for the indoor group was (GW + RWH), for outdoor group was (GW + RWH + EWIL), and for the general group was (RWH + ESFAs+ EW1L).
