English Abstract

It is generally accepted that due to globalization, competition is becoming more intense and as organizations are now able to or forced to open newer markets with different paradigms, conditions, operating methods and requirements.

As a result, many organizations are finding it necessary to re-think their strategic Competences in order to survive in this new global environment.

Although Knowledge Management (KM) has been around for some time, and has increasingly become an accepted management tool, it is yet to be seen by organizations as a necessary integral part of building Strategic Competences.

This research focused on the challenges experienced when executing Knowledge Management (KM) processes in Strategic Competences (SC) to enhancing strategic performance.

Therefore, the Integrating of Knowledge Management (KM) and strategic Competences is a new research area, consequently, scientific research and literature around it remains limited.

These challenges force the organizations to undertake a change in their business model to improve the strategic performance.

In light of research problem and rare studies that tie between the KM process, strategic Competence and their impact on strategic performance.

The aim of this research is to propose a conceptual model of KM process and strategic Competence to improve strategic Performance.

Based on information that has been found in the literature on KM and SC, knowledge has been increasingly recognized as the most essential and valuable asset in organizations and as a differentiating factor in business.

In addressing the aforementioned need, the author assesses and compares the process between KM and SC based on the proposed different taxonomy.

This thesis proposes a set of research hypotheses to explain the relationship between KM and Strategic Competence to improve strategic Performance.

Accordingly, this research adapts the survey method which is conducted via a Questionnaire with 77 sample of the study targeted the Three Administrative Levels (Top Managers, Head of Section, and Employees) working in the Jordanian Insurance Companies.

In support of the hypothesis, the research validates the integration of KM in support of SC which improves the strategic performance.
