English Abstract

A fair number of metamorphic virus studies and papers are existed in these days, some of them are listed in this thesis, but none of them has a satisfactory discussion for all metamorphic techniques and detection methods, none of them also have implemented a software detector to detect metamorphic viruses.

This thesis aims at a satisfactory discussion for all metamorphic techniques used by virus writers so far, and to implement our proposed detector technique in detecting metamorphic viruses.

It accomplishes this by an in-depth research on malware and metamorphic viruses.

This thesis introduces a new artificial immune system for metamorphic viruses detection, the suggested system uses components and techniques found in the biological immune system such as multilayer, self, non-self, skin, skeleton, B-cell and receptors.

In this study; metamorphic viruses are generated by two tools: Next Generation Virus Creation Kit (NGVCK0.30) and Virus Creation Lab for Windows 32 (VCL32).

The implementation shows that 100% of metamorphic viruses can be detected by using the suggested system.
