Abstract AR
Abstract EN
-This review discusses the ion-selective sensors (ISEs) for inorganic anions.
The work on the selective complexation and detection of anions is more recent than the work on cation selective sensors.
There are three important components for a sensor : a transducer element, a membrane material that separates the transducer element and the aqueous solution, and the receptor (ionophore) molecule that introduces the selectivity.
This review specifically deals with potentiometric charateristics of different anion selective sensors.
The key component of membrane material (ionophore) is discussed in each sensor group.
The nature of the anion receptor (ionophore) ultimately determines the selectivity.
Both coordination chemistry and hydrogen bonding have been used to design anion receptor molecules.
