Abstract AR
Abstract EN
The photo catalytic degradation of five dyes has been investigated on dynamic solar pilot plant using non-woven fibers coated with TiO2 as photo catalyst.
It was attempted to determine the feasibility of such degradation by varying the chemical structures, either azoic (methyl orange, reactive yellow 84), or indigoid (indigo carmine), or heteropolyaromatic (Rhodamine B), or triphenylmethane (Patent blue V).
The influence of the chemical structure of different dyes, as well as that of previous adsorption in the dark, has been discussed.
The experimental results show that the rate of degradation follows pseudo-first kinetics order with respect to dyes concentration.
The mineralization was monitored by chemical oxygen demand (COD).
The kinetics of COD disappearance was slower than the discoloration of the solution.
The supported TiO2 can be used several times without loss of efficiency.
