English Abstract
Some aromatic symmetrical aldazines, which are actually heterodienes, reacted here not as 1, 3-heterodienes in [4 + 2]-cycloaddition but as 1, 3-dipolar compounds.
Their reactions with two moles of dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate led to [3 + 2]-cycloaddition reactions, which known as criss-cross cycloaddition. These reactions gave two different azine porducts, namly, bicyclic azines and N-allyl pyrazoles depending on the nature of the aldehyde used.
The N-allyl pyrazoles were found to possess high biological activity, whereas the bicyclic azine possesses low to medium activity.
Characterization of the products was achieved by 'H-NMR, 13C-NMR, IR spectroscopy and elemental analysis.
